Yes We Bought a New Car So many of you have been asking about our new car that I am going to tell you the story before you hear Earl's version... We have been checking out cars to replace the little Nissan truck for some time and last Saturday we went to look at the new Nissans in the Abbottsford Auto Mall. We briefly stopped at the Chev dealership. And there it was! A beautiful , like-new , burnished gold Chev Malibu, a lease sale with only 20.000K, and only ten months old, for $16,000, looking at me and saying "Buy me! Buy me!" We drove it around the block and even Earl fell for it. "If you think it's a good buy go in and buy it right away before it's gone" I said. "Lot's of time, we'll think about I," he said. Next day was Sunday. "Better buy it today," I said. I said it several times, in fact. "Lots of time, it'll be there tomorrow, I assure you," he said. Monday he poked the around the house while I nagged, but we finally did go in just before noon. And there was the gold Malibu sitting just where we last saw it! "See, I told you so. You worried for nothing. Cars don't sell that fast," he said. Our nice salesman wouldn't be in until 2:30 and we didn't think it was right to deal with another one. "Leave word you're coming back to buy it from him," I said. "There you go again worrying," he said, "Nobody will buy it before we come back." He wanted to fix things up at the bank first so we didn't get back till 3:30. We drove into the car lot. Just in time to see the gold Malibu disappearing down the highway. "I sold it half an hour ago," the salesman said. So we bought the beautiful gold Malibu's plain Jane green sister. You want to know why you haven't seen Earl lately? He's living down in the crawlspace now. I TOLD HIM SO! I TOLD HIM SO! I TOLD HIM SO!!! Post Script: The neighbors are having a field day. The men all say "Nice car you've got there, Earl. Sure love the color. Green is real nice." The women all say. "Gee Earl, your car is sure nice, but it would have been much prettier in gold.. |
